Wentworth Subaru serving Portland, Oregon is proud to present information and details on the release of the New 2013 Subaru BRZ coming to Subaru dealerships nationwide late spring of 2012. Subaru Engineers developed the new 2013 BRZ with the fundamentals of the original sports car in mind, which is low vehicle weight, an ultra-low center of gravity, and precision steering. It is equipped with a newly designed 200-horsepower FA-Series 2.0-liter Boxer® Engine that is not shared with other Subaru Models. It has the capacity to seat four and ample cargo space. All of this combined with Subaru's renowned safety and quality performance, the BRZ is a sports car with practicality as well as performance. Recently, the trend for sports cars has been a focus on power, luxury, and performance. Because of this, many sports cars have been designed with a heavier weight. The new 2013 Subaru BRZ was engineered, however, with a purist approach, returning to the roots of sports coupe design. The all new 2013 Subaru BRZ weighs in at an estimated 2,762 lbs., making it the lightest closed rear-wheel drive sports car in the U.S. market today. The 2013 BRZ has one of the lowest centers of gravity of any production car at just 18.1 inches, thanks to the all-new Subaru FA-Series 2.0-liter Boxer® engine. This new smaller, but powerful engine helps the BRZ achieve the ultra-low center of gravity. This new engine combines light weight with high strength, high compression and high-revving responsiveness, with a 7,400-rpm redline. The engine's broad torque curve peaks at an estimated 150 foot/pounds and offers a strong midrange making the BRZ feel responsive in everyday driving.
The 2013 BRZ will come with a choice of a six-speed manual and an optional six-speed automatic transmission, both are engineered to maximize driving feel and performance. The six-speed manual comes equipped with a short-throw shifter, and the pedals in the manual transmission model have been optimized for "heel-and-toe" downshifting. The six-speed automatic transmission model BRZ comes equipped with paddle- shifters and allows the driver to select Sport mode for firmer automatic shifting. The driver also has the capability to shift manually using the shifter handle or the steering wheel paddle-shifters.
